Transcendent Creation Miracles

What distinguishes a “transcendent” miracle from other miracles involving precise timing or shaping is a transition from nonexistence to existence—totally apart from previously available material components and the operation of physical laws or dimensions. In the original language of Genesis 1, the verb used for “create” highlights three transcendent creation miracles, as distinct from transformational miracles (see sidebar “Difference between ‘Make’ and ‘Create’ ” on p. 123). The three transcendent creation miracles are these:

creation of the universe (v. 1)

creation of soulish animals (v. 21)

creation of humans (v. 27)
